Summer in Oslo with babies / kids / toddlers
Are you planning to spend parts of the summer in Oslo and are wondering what to do with your kids? Even though many places take a break over the holidays, there are still lots of options for child-friendly activities in Oslo :) Here are some suggestions, both for babies and toddlers/children..

Travel to a family park in Norway!

Babies
- The Norwegian Humanist association is organising baby song throughout the summer on Tuesdays 12-14.
- Barnekunstmuseet (International Museum of Children´s Art) also organizes baby song every Tuesday in July.
- At Godt Brød in Oslo Sommerpark in Tryvann they have maternity group meetings every Friday the whole summer :)
- Strolling and exercising with other mums. The Facebook group SnapBack was established in 2013 for those who wish to get back into shape after giving birth by strolling and doing simple exercises. They are planning to meet up every Sunday this summer!
- Yoga for new mums. Belly & Baby organizes summer classes in July. Every Wednesday in Majorstua :)
- Child Planet in Frogner and their newest addition in Fornebu is open all summer, every weekday between 10 and 1.30pm, and it costs 60kr per child. You might want to reserve a spot before going.
- "Swim" with your baby. Tons of child-friendly beaches in Oslo to choose from :) Frognerbadet and Tøyenbadet are also nice places to bring your baby and children. Frognerbadet is open 7am(!)-19.30 every weekday this summer and 9-18 on Sat-Sun. Read more about these baths and others on the bottom of this page.
- Many museums don´t organize baby-friendly guided tours during the summer. But they do organize guided tours in English every day of the summer, so just wrap your baby on you and check out some art :) Check out the web pages of the different museums here.
- The farms for children in Ekeberg and Søndre Gård are open this summer. Read more about these here.
- Strolls in the city, the forest or along the water are always a great way to spend the day :)
- Baby cinema is on all summer :)
- And don´t forget to go to a cafe at a home for elderly people instead of the regular café!
Kids
- Oslo Summer Park. Try the Climbing Park for kids 3 years and older!
- The International Museum of Children´s Art organizes rhythm workshops in August and art workshops the whole summer.
- Children´s theatre in Frognerparken. You can enjoy Aladdin og den vidunderlige lampen until 20 July. Emil i Lønneberget from 22 to 27 July, Pippi Langstrømpe from 24 July to 4 August, and Karius og Baktus from 5 to 10 August. Buy tickets here.
- Doktor Proktor tur at Akershus Festning every saturday the whole summer. For kids 5-11 years old.
- Pirate cruises every Sunday all summer. Read more here.
- Guided family tours at the Opera every Saturday Operaen. For kids from 4 years.
- Popsenteret organizes a lot of activities for kids this summer (mostly in Norwegian). Among other activies, kids can make their own What does the fox say video!
- Teknisk Museum also has a great and varied summer programme :) As do Folkemuseet, Nobels fredssenter and Akershus Festning.

- The amusement park Tusenfryd!
- If you´re willing to drive for an hour, you can go to Inspiria Science Center in Sarpsborg.
- The popular music festival Øyafestivalen is organizing a children´s concert with Bare Egil and Aslag Guttormsgaard on Saturday 9 August at 13:50.
- The mini festival Kids in Jazz take place 9-12 August :)
- Oslo Jazz Festival organizes 3 concerts for children: Albatrosh & Andreas (14 August), Geitekillingen som kunne telle til ti (16 August) and Maj-Britt Andersen (16 August).
- The multicultural Melafestivalen is planning a lot of activities for kids - face painting, dance workshop, music workshop, bubble show, theatre, and much more. 15-17 August.
